The cap design allows the venting of steam and air during the heating section of the steam sterilisation cycle. Afterwards the cap automatically creates a hermetic seal at the end of the cooling cycle as a vacuum is formed inside the bottle. The cap can be easily removed when required by pulling on the side tab, reducing the risk of contact with the sterile contents.
